Project Overview:
The Fox West YMCA in Greenville was in need of significant upgrades and expansion, as its membership had grown from about 1,600 in 2006 to more than 5,200 in 2015. The project design consisted of several interior elements, including an updated welcome desk and employee work areas, second floor restroom, dance studio and mind/body studio.
The addition consisted of offices for fitness staff (including team conference room), gymnasium and wellness space. The gymnasium addition meets the YMCA’s current needs and allows for future expansion of a second gymnasium and elevated running track. The key elements of the wellness space are the increased size for added equipment and an expansive glass wall overlooking the outdoor walking trail. In addition to the new wellness center and multipurpose space, a new gym and playground were added. The facility also received new equipment and an upgraded member service area.
