McMahon is your partner when it comes to funding a project. We know communication is key when it comes to coordinating federal, state and local funding sources, and we’ll be with you every step of the way.
Our experience in identifying funding solutions includes researching available funding sources, including grants and low interest loan programs, as well as alternative financing options and identifying the advantages and disadvantages of pursuing these funding choices.
We can also help with preparing funding applications and providing administrative assistance during a project’s implementation.
Our team of professional, certified grant personnel can also help with municipal and non- profit development and annual budgeting.
After a devastating flood in 2008 affecting more than 600 homes, the Village of Machesney Park contracted with McMahon to apply for a Hazard Mitigation Grant (HMG) for the purchase of flood-prone homes, the demolition of those homes, and the restoration of the resulting area into green space. This voluntary program would allow homeowners to sell their properties to the Village at pre-disaster value, pay for the demolition of the home, and allow for the area to return to green space and subsequent future water storage. The HMG Grant funded by FEMA covers 75% of the costs. McMahon also applied a matching grant from the Illinois Dept. of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO). The Village was awarded both of these grants for a total of more than $4,000,000. To date, the Village has received more than $10,000,000 in grant funding secured through work by McMahon.
