Project Overview:
When McMAHON was approached by Fox Valley Hematology & Oncology (FVHO) to start planning a facility that was different than a traditional “hospital”, the driving design was to create spaces that were not cold institutional environments, and needed to have a variety of services on-site and accessible to all. The focus was an overall holistic patient experience, creating a warm, stress free environment. In addition, design and construction needed to be completed in a little over a years’ time. To accomplish the design objectives and tight schedule, design workshops were held with the doctors, nurses, and other shareholders in the overall patient experience. To help visualize the project, conceptual design was done on a smart board; information was then transferred to actual real life mock-ups. The mock-ups, allowed the client the opportunity to see how the space functions, without guessing as to space requirements or performance of their day-to-day tasks. The end result of just over a year of hard work and collaboration is a facility that displays cutting-edge design and most importantly allows for an unparalleled patient experience to any other care facility in northeast Wisconsin. FVHO is now a ThedaCare facility.
