Project Overview:
Main Street Pond was designed to improve water quality and provide flood control for its 120-acre watershed and assist with Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) compliance including Total Phosphorus (TP) and Total Suspended Solids (TSS) pollutants. The banks of the pond were planted with approximately 90 species of wildflowers and grasses to provide the following functional values: shoreline erosion protection, filter pollutants, improve water quality, deter geese and provide a high-quality wildlife habitat. The prairie is a key component of the stormwater facility to sustainably function at a high level while beautifying the local area. The general public has embraced this scenic pond, hiking the gravel trail around the pond for recreational purposes.
