SUTTER ELECTED AS DIRECTOR OF ASCE REGION 3

Carl Sutter, P.E., C.C.S., M.ASCE has been elected American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Geographic Region 3 Director by a majority of voting Society members, following a month-long election that closed June 1st. Sutter is Senior Vice President, in charge of the Environment & Infrastructure Division at McMAHON.

His active membership in ASCE over the past 33 years includes leadership roles as Region 3 Governor (2013-Present), Wisconsin Section President (2003), Fox River Valley Branch President (1991), Chair of the National Committee on Engineering Management & Business Practices, and several other positions at the local branch, state and national levels. Sutter has also been a contributing author for ASCE publications including the Report Card on Wisconsin’s Infrastructure, and was a Principal Contributing Author for the Joint Task Force on Sanitary Sewers ASCE Manual No. 60 – Gravity Sanitary Sewer Design and Construction.

The 18-member Board of Direction sets policy, prioritizes programs, and allocates resources for the 150,000 plus ASCE members in 177 countries. “My vision is that ASCE promotes the improvement of the environment and infrastructure by being at the table with the decision makers in these arenas,” Sutter said. “We are all parts of a global organization striving to improve the public health, safety, and welfare and we must be part of the solutions.”

Sutter will be inducted as Region 3 Director at the Annual Business Meeting this fall at the ASCE 2018 Convention in Denver. Region 3 is a diverse group of 14 sections and 16 branches throughout the midwestern United States and 4 Canadian Provinces. The position will be held for a 3-year term.
