McMAHON is pleased to announce that Paul Benedict, PE, SE, has been appointed President of the engineering and architectural services firm, headquartered in Neenah. Following a very successful 33-year tenure as President, Denny Lamers, PE will step down from his current position on July 11, 2018, but will remain with the company as Chairman of the Board.

“After a very deliberate, thorough succession planning process, it is clear that Paul is the right individual to lead this company into the future as President,” said Lamers. “The Board of Directors and shareholders are extremely confident in the company’s continued success under his direction.”

Benedict, 47, has served as Vice President and Senior Structural Engineer for McMAHON, and was appointed to the Board of Directors in January 2018. He currently leads the Systems & Building Engineering Division, which includes structural engineering, MEP services, water and wastewater engineering, industrial engineering, and construction-related services. Tom Kocken, Executive Vice President and a senior member of the Board of Directors expressed confidence in Benedict’s abilities. “Paul has consistently demonstrated strong engineering skills and is well-respected by the clients he has worked with over the years. The leadership acumen he has developed as a project manager will translate well to his new role.”

Since starting his career at McMAHON in 1995, Benedict has gained 23 years of experience in structural analysis and design for projects, including commercial, industrial, food and beverage, health care, education, recreational, hospitality, municipal, and residential buildings and facilities. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, Arizona, Georgia, and Pennsylvania, as well as a registered Structural Engineer in Illinois. He holds a Masters of Structural Engineering Degree and a Bachelors of Civil Engineering Degree from Washington University in St. Louis, and a Bachelors of Mathematics Degree from Luther College.

“I’m incredibly honored to assume this role and excited for the future of this company,” said Benedict. “I have a deep admiration for Denny, and how he has been integral in laying a strong foundation here. When he became President, there were only a few dozen employees, and McMAHON has grown to be one of the leading E/A firms in the Midwest under his leadership.”

Along with the appointment of a new President, McMAHON also announced today that Mike McMahon, AIA and Matt Greely, PE will join Benedict as part of the company’s executive leadership team. McMahon leads the Architectural Division and has been on the Board of Directors since 2016. He has 35 years of experience in master planning, architectural design and project management, including extensive experience with industrial, commercial, educational, and historic buildings, cultural centers, and facilities for faith-based organizations, municipalities and local governments. Greely will ultimately lead the company’s Environment & Infrastructure Division, currently led by Carl Sutter, and was also named to the Board of Directors in May. He has 32 years of experience with the firm specializing in infrastructure planning, design and project management for public and private clients.

Under the company’s new leadership structure, Benedict, McMahon and Greely will continue to lead their respective divisions. “This new structure is going to create an atmosphere that will promote direct communication between the entire staff and key decision makers,” said Lamers. “This company has grown significantly in the past several years, and maintaining efficient lines of communication, as well as the company’s strong culture, were key factors in selecting the next generation of leadership. It’s going to be exciting to watch these guys continue to grow this company.”
