Project Overview:
Facility Planning and 14 workshops with design team members and owner-representatives preceded the construction phase of this major upgrade project. A decision log was updated after each workshop. Major pieces of equipment were direct-procured by the owner ($11 million of equipment with 11 contracts) ensuring the purchase of value-based equipment with decisions kept in the owner’s court.
Three contractors submitted bids within 1% of each other, an indication of clear, concise plans. The project came in under budget at $34 million.
Unit Processes included Fine Screening; Pumping; Grit Removal; Ballasted Sedimentation (Actiflo); Biological Aerated Filter (Biostyr); Liquid Disinfection & Dechlorination; Gravity Thickening; DAF Thickening; Autothermal Thermophilic Aerobic Digestion (ATAD); and Liquid Sludge Storage & Land Application.
