When we work on a transportation project our focus is broader than just the technical design. We also focus on how the project will affect the environment, the safety of those in the community and how it could impact the economy. This full-picture view is what allows us to provide the most ideal solution to get traffic from point A to point B.

Case Study
FEMA HMG AND DCEO FUNDING FOR FLOOD RELIEF
After a devastating flood in 2008 affecting more than 600 homes, the Village of Machesney Park contracted with McMahon to apply for a Hazard Mitigation Grant (HMG) for the purchase of flood-prone homes, the demolition of those homes, and the restoration of the resulting area into green space. This voluntary program would allow homeowners to sell their properties to the Village at pre-disaster value, pay for the demolition of the home, and allow for the area to return to green space and subsequent future water storage. The HMG Grant funded by FEMA covers 75% of the costs. McMahon also applied a matching grant from the Illinois Dept. of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO). The Village was awarded both of these grants for a total of more than $4,000,000. To date, the Village has received more than $10,000,000 in grant funding secured through work by McMahon.
