CARTER WASTEWATER TREATMENT FACILITY

Carter, Wisconsin
Project Overview:

Changing effluent limits and an aging aerated lagoon system prompted the Forest County Potawatomi Community (FCPC) to consider options for wastewater treatment. A detailed Needs Assessment considered existing flows and loadings, potential casino and residential expansions, and reserve capacity for septage haulers. MBR, MBBR, Oxidation Ditch and MLS Activated Sludge processes were evaluated. The MLE (Modified Ludzack-Ettinger) Activated Sludge Process was selected based on its cost-effectiveness and robust ability to meet BOD, Ammonia/Nitrite/Nitrate and Phosphorus Limits. The design allows flexibility for the treatment of current and future flows by bringing aeration tankage on/off-line.
