McMahon, a full-service, professional engineering and architectural firm, announces the retirement of Denny Lamers, former company president, chairman of the board, and community advocate.

Lamers has worked for McMahon since May of 1975. He served as the company president for 33 years, from 1985 – 2018, and as the chairman of the board from 2018 – 2021. Under his leadership, McMahon grew from a company of only a few dozen employees to a leading Midwest engineering and architectural firm.

Throughout his career, Lamers made a significant impact on the Fox Cities community with his commitment to supporting charitable organizations. In 2017, he and his wife, Jan, were co-chairs of the $4 million capital campaign to expand and renovate Appleton’s Harbor House Domestic Abuse facility; McMahon provided all engineering and architectural design services for the project at no cost to Harbor House. The expansion of the Harbor House Domestic Abuse facility has allowed for countless victims to receive support and for the shelter to continue serving the Fox Cities.

Additionally, The Lamers Foundation, has raised over $550,000 for various children’s charities through the annual Lamers Racing Driving Experience event.

The value of community is instilled into the culture at McMahon, which is in no small part attributed to Lamers’ leadership. McMahon serves more than 200 municipal clients, helping community leaders make improvements that impact the quality of living in our region. This includes efficient roadways, water resources management to keep important waterways clean, treatment and distribution systems that carry safe water to residents, and family-friendly parks and trails.

In 2019, Lamers was inducted into the Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce Business Leader Hall of Fame for his leadership qualities and impact to the Fox Cities region.

“It has been an honor to work for and lead a company of this caliber. The team at McMahon is second to none and will go above and beyond for clients and the community alike,” said Denny Lamers.

In his retirement, Lamers plans to continue building The Lamers Foundation non-profit, created to help underprivileged kids get a good education and thrive in life.
