Internship – Land Surveyor

Our surveying team is looking for a motivated and detail‑oriented Land Surveyor Intern. This role provides hands-on experience in field surveying, data collection, mapping, and exposure to real-world land development, engineering, and construction projects. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, enjoys working outdoors, and has strong technical curiosity.

Responsibilities

  • Field Work
    • Assist survey crews with daily field operations, including boundary, topographic, construction, and ALTA surveys.
    • Set up, operate, and maintain surveying instruments such as total stations, GPS/GNSS receivers, levels, and data collectors.
    • Collect accurate field measurements and document site conditions.
    • Follow safety protocols and support traffic and site control as needed.
  • Office & Technical Support
    • Process and organize survey data using CAD and survey software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center).
    • Assist in preparing survey drawings, maps, and reports.
    • Verify and check the accuracy of field measurements against project requirements.
    • Research property records, plats, deeds, and legal descriptions.
  • Team Collaboration
    • Support field crews, project surveyors, and engineers with project tasks.
    • Communicate effectively with team members regarding project needs and progress.
    • Participate in training and mentorship sessions to build surveying skills.

Qualifications

  • Actively pursuing a degree in Land Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Interest in land surveying, mapping, or civil engineering technology.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and terrains.
  • Strong math, problem‑solving, and spatial reasoning skills.
  • Basic understanding of AutoCAD and Civil 3D is a plus.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites.
